For our post on “Know. Care. Spread.”, thank you Jing En for your comment, we are working on a post for the overview of puppy mills now, which will be up soon and try to be more persuasive by creating a clearer picture of the problem, and statistics,  to convince readers to be more interested and have the urge to support our cause.

Responding to the comment from Sharon on our post titled “Realise and Empathise”, we will research more in depth for information regarding the percentage of puppies that actually come from puppy mills, sorry for any possible errors made. We will increase our argument’s accuracy by being clearer and specifying what kind of dogs come from puppy mills, to provide readers with a clearer image of the situation.

In snoweberries’ (Donna Li Lim) comment on “Realise and Empathise”, we will be refining our action plan and substantiating our claims further with evidence and statistics. We will try to search for relevant quotes to include too.

In response to Claris’ comment on “What YOU Can Do” post, more details are now being confirmed and more information will be uploaded soon, so please keep referring back soon.

What YOU Can Do

Now that you know what they go through and have seen the world from their point of view, how can you possibly help? You might think that what an individual, like yourself, can do is limited, small and won’t change a thing but we beg to differ. Dream big, it only takes time to fit in those dreams. With the help of numerous others, something can be done to stop this. And with just your participation, it could start a chain reaction.

We have found the most feasible and convenient solution, where we write letters to big authorities, such as the media, to inform everyone about this and make them aware of the truth of what is actually happening. Through these letters, we hope to be able to spread this message and get everyone to join us in preventing this. Only once people know about it will they start caring. Remember when you didn’t know about this, did you have the urge to do something about it? Hence, for this, we will need you to help us write the letters. You can play a part by writing letters, on behalf of SG Puppies, to the authorities and media to raise awareness. To be put simply, start by spreading the word and encouraging the majority to support us.

Just one simple letter from each person does make a difference, especially when multiplied by a few hundred thousand others. No matter how small the effort put in, it is still an effort which will be recognized and paid off. It doesn’t even take much. Imagine the end to this story, where animals and humans everywhere can lead happy carefree lives not confined to anything, living and growing in their natural home. Everything will become transparent and clear to you, people everywhere will not have to worry about where their puppies came from and know the truth. NO doubts, NO worries and NO cruelty. Puppies will be able to grow naturally, have fun and play, explore the world, instead of being confined in a metal cage. After all, all beings deserve love and freedom. So why shouldn’t animals?

You are representing the animals, you are helping them to speak up, you can change their future. We appeal to you to participate and support this cause by helping us draft your own letter because small is powerful. What you can do does make an impact. It just depends on what you do, sit back and watch the show? Or try to be part of the change that everyone wants to see? It doesn’t take much so why not try to change someone, or something, else’s lives for the better? Think about others for a while and you never know how grateful the recipient, we and many others supporting this cause will be. So do something about what you care about and make a difference today.

Realise and Empathise

Mystery Misery (Need)

Think of a place it is overcrowded, with no adequate veterinary care, food, water and socialization. Poor puppies do not receive treats, toys, exercise or basic grooming. Kept in tiny, stacked up cages with wire flooring to minimize waste cleanup, it is more than often their paws and legs get injured.

You may be wondering now “What kind of place would be cruel enough to give such a bad environment for the dogs to live in their whole lives?” Is it not degrading for animals, with equal rights as humans, be placed in such a terrible place whereas we humans merely use them as a means to an end of getting cute puppy babies for our entertainment and pleasure.

All beings deserve love, even animals. How many of you even know that your beloved puppies come from puppy mills which environments are even worse than living on the streets? Many people are ignorant about the truth of the dogs we keep at home. It is essential that we know the problem, after that we can care for the dogs, and lastly start acting to make the world a better place. Many may find this problem insignificant, as they feel that animals are not like humans, thus unable to feel.

The authorities must do what is right, instead of what is favorable. The government is aware of this serious problem, however he refuses to take action because he does not feel compelled to do so. So, we need your help! We set to bring the majority to help this movement in order to provide a better future for the dogs and puppies in Singapore, and maybe perhaps the world.

We love animals and aspire to create a caring and loving community by showing our love and appreciation through small simple acts with empathy and passion. To you, they may just to be a pet but to them, they are everything. So don’t abuse their loyalty to you and instead, love them back and help us help them mold a better future.

Let’s care and share, regardless human or animal! It is evident that there is a need to help and support these poor dogs. Help them to live a better life in a better environment! I am sure all you readers out there would not want to live a life like theirs. Place yourself in the dogs’ shoes and help them create need possibilities and new futures.

Lend a helping hand! (Satisfaction)

So many would ask this question “How can I, as an individual help? Surely, one person would not sway the government to take action to alter this problem.” So all animal lovers out there! Here is something you can do to change the society! You can play a part by writing letters for SG Puppies to authorities and media to raise awareness. Even though it is just a small letter, it contains all your thoughts and feelings (about the misery of the dogs in the puppy’ mills).

You are representing the animals to speak up to the authorities to change their future. Helping to write a letter raises the awareness level of the behind scenes of what seems like a harmless puppy. Which in actual fact, its mother lives in a brutal and cold environment, only mere means to an end for us heartless human beings? I am sure many of you would not be happy to be used by others, so if you do not like being used, what about the countless dogs that we have used? Abusing their rights of their lives and taking away their babies to sell to pet shops.

In the letters that we will write that will be sent to the newspapers, we will raise awareness about the plight of these puppies. As more people know about this unfortunate problem, they will rally with our cause. The government would then be forced to take action because it is the only way to make the citizens happy. Moreover, if Singapore were a civilized country, why would we be doing such inhumane things in the first place?

Writing letters is the best way to get our points across. Which puppy mills will allow an ordinary Singaporean to visit them and see the horrors which the puppy mills behold? In order to protect their jobs, workers would definitely try and keep outsiders out and insiders in. Therefore, we are unable to visit the puppy mills to get actual information.

By writing to the newspapers, the government would be forced to take action and the fact of the matter is that only the government can take action in this case because the government has the power to instruct the puppy mills to close down and stop these abuses.

So what are you waiting for? Good things come in small packages… All of us can chip in a little to form a larger picture! “One alone is not enough, we must work together!” -Mulan- We aim to bring the majority to our side to support animal rights! One letter can indeed make a difference. So let us all join hands to make this world a better place!

Know. Care. Spread.

“I don’t remember much from the place I was born. It was cramped and dark, and we were never played with by the humans. I remember Mom and her soft fur, but she was often sick, and very thin. She had hardly any milk for me and my brothers and sisters. I remember many of them dying, and I missed them so much.

I don’t remember the day I was taken from Mom. I was so sad and scared, my milk teeth had only just come in, and I really should have been with Mom still, but she was so sick…”

Imagine if you were them. Cold. Hungry. Dirty. And helpless. Plus the fact that no one will help you adds on to your pain.

We are people who know about this situation and when we put ourselves into the shoes of these unfortunate animals, we care. But the fact is that we are the minority and we need more people to join our cause.

Unfortunately the fact that we are the minority means that the government will not take action unless more people are aware of our cause and rally with us.

This is the reason why our project is important. How many people know what goes on in puppy mills? How many people know about the suffering of animals in puppy mills? How many people even know the term “puppy mills”?

Our project aims to raise awareness about the suffering of these animals in these puppy mills. Till date, many Singaporeans do not know what puppy mills are. Hence, it is our job to raise awareness about puppy mills.

By raising awareness, more people will rally with our cause and then, the government would be forced to do something. The reason why the government is not doing anything is because only a minority of Singaporeans are dissatisfied with the doings of these puppy mills. Without objection from the masses, the government would continue the allowance of such puppy mills. After all, it can satisfy Singaporean’s needs for pets they can keep at home.

However, this is where we come in. By writing letters, many people will begin to know about puppy mills. As more people know about it, they will begin to show dissatisfaction with the government and eventually, the government would be forced to do something, like making the living conditions better for example. With that, more animals will have better living conditions.

This is the reason why you should rally behind our cause. By raising awareness, more people will know about puppy mills and together, we can change the lives of these animals.

Although you might not be an animal lover or a pet owner, we hope you realise that our cause is important as what is happening to these animals is morally wrong and they are being abused. Moreover, do consider: what will happen to Singapore if other countries found out about puppy mills?

Raising awareness is extremely crucial to this cause as it will save the lives of these abused puppies and hopefully, allow them to lead better lives after they have been freed from those cages. Although it is not known the exact figure of how many puppies are actually in puppy mills, 98% of Singapore’s pet shops depend on puppy mills for their supply of puppies. This means that every year, over a thousand puppies are born and amongst these thousand puppies, many are put to sleep because they cannot be sold. Raising awareness helps prevent the innocent killing of puppies because they have deformities.

In lieu with the Singapore Kindness Movement, we want you to put yourself in the shoes of these puppies and feel their pain. Hopefully even without doing so, you can feel their pain and feel compelled to raise awareness for these animals.

After all, if you were one of those animals in the mills, wouldnt you want someone to do the same for you as well?
